Our History

1979 -1983 Fellowship CRC was founded with 32 families and met in the Presbyterian Church building here in Brighton.

1987 - The congregation decided upon a building program, as we had outgrown the Presbyterian Church.

2002 - Long-term plans were in progress, addressing everything from building changes to ministry changes

2004 - Fellowship went through a visioning process as an initial step to our long-term planning.  Six goals came out of this visioning:

  1.     Training and Equipping our Leaders
  2.     Personal Growth and Education
  3.     Serving the Community
  4.     Building-Expansion Needs
  5.     Stewardship
  6.     Staffing Needs

2005  Fellowship searched for, and called,  a full time Pastor of Education to fulfill the staffing needs and educational needs of the church as strategized in the visioning process.

2006  Discipleship Training began as part of the strategy to fulfill the first of the vision process goals.

2006  In partnership with the municipality of Brighton and the other local churches, organized and began the Beacon, our local youth drop-in centre.  This was part of the strategy to fulfill the third vision process goals.

July 2006 - Construction began on a massive expansion to our building.
